The site is situated between the harsh environment of the sea and the protected marina. As such, the building design has a solid masonry street frontage, which gradually breaks down in mass, fenestration and materials toward the marina, with the owner‘s yacht as a reference. The marina frontage developed around the initial concept of boatshed architecture. The finishes, connections and material treatment of the timber building required an investigation and refinement of timber boat building technology not commonly applied to building technology.
