Overt and subtle design elements inspired by Korea‘s rich cultural heritage make Incheon International Airport a memorable gateway to the region, and a haven for weary travellers. The passenger terminal roof forms have been designed to pay homage to Korean culture and be expressive of the concept ol flight. I he repetitive arches of the ticketing hall, which recall the structure of early biplanes, are constructed from long-span tubular steel compression trusses. Meanwhile, the up-swept curve of the concourse roof is symbolic of the rooflines of traditional Korean palaces, and its exterior masts and catenary support system emulates the large anchored ships docked in nearby Incheon I larbour.
